About Linda Heinzelman Interiors
My work has been called intelligent, bold, classical and timeless with a bit of whimsy thrown in. I prefer strong clean lines and rich finishes. I like an eclectic composition that incorporates both old and new. I think rooms deserve at least one good antique to add a bit of charm, history and a touch of gravitas.
Great design can cover many styles and I have been told I'm very good at channeling my client's tastes and desires. And timelessness is important in my work I am pleased when I am called by an old client and see that the rooms have not "aged" in the ten or so years since I first did them. A house has a job. Each room supports the pleasure and activities of its owner. Rooms that work are rooms you just naturally want to go into. A beautiful room that no one goes into is not designed properly.
So many of my ideas were formed when I studied at Parsons School of design but the one most quoted was "Form Follows Function" and to this end, I have very detailed conversations with my clients. How we live and how we use our space is a passion for me. It is an opportunity to care for people, to bring beauty and comfort into their lives. I have enjoyed projects that include beach houses, New York apartments, small hotels, executive suites, medical spas and the elegant homes of the Connecticut gold coast.
I also love rethinking rooms and rearranging and pulling a new look from furniture the client already has.
My work has been featured in W, Home and Garden, Westport Magazine, C cottages and Connecticut Cottages and Gardens as well as local newspapers.
